We welcome back Nik for his third presentation to WSWS. Nikcreated his first wine business, 'Red Squirrel' in Richmond in 2012 and since then has been at the forefront of the UK trade, winning the IWSC award for outstanding achievement in wine in 2017 and co-founding the importer Graft Wine Company in 2019 (named the UK's best small importer in 2022 by the International Wine Challenge). Between 2020 and 2022 Nik ran the 'Pip' wine shop at Seale, at which time he gave WSWS our first post-pandemic tasting. In November 2021 he opened 'Mother Vine' wine shop and bar on Chelsea's Pavilion Road.
Given Graft's position as one of the country's foremost suppliers to the restaurant trade, named 2023 specialist restaurant wine supplier of the year by Drinks Business magazine, Nik will be taking members through a range of Graft's most popular styles supplied to restaurants. We will be 'looking under the bonnet' at how the best restaurants source wine and Nik will suggest tips on how to get the most from a wine list. Moreover, as Graft only supplies the trade rather than the public, Nik will be offering members the opportunity to purchase the wines at their trade prices.
